Seeking normality is the ultimate sacrifice of potential

I've heard this from a young girl whose brothers are autistic...and I believe she is right. Unfortunately there are so many of us that spend a lifetime in trying ' to fit-in ' , in trying to be that ' normal ' we all think we need to be..

Iceland .. out of this world

Iceland for me personally was an amazing experience. I don't even know where to start to describe it.. to begin with..since I walked down the plane and headed towards Reykjavik
I had the feeling I landed on the Moon...not too many people, many rocks, dark ...it's just a unusual atmosphere all around.
The people have something different about them..they are direct but friendly, funny, honest and welcoming..they seem relaxed and helpful. Just to give you a bit of an idea..imagine I was running to catch the bus to take to the airport when I realised I had lost the tickets..so I just
went to the lady there and explained the situation briefly..and she just gave the new tickets without questioning or doubting anything..for me that says a lot about the people there..and it says good things.

I went to Blue Lagoon like any other classic tourist would do..and again the feeling I had was out of this world..staying in warm water (even hot in some areas of the pool) and just having a grey sky above, surrounded by rocks and with 3 degrees Celsius outside..made me think I am in a kind of The Truman show movie..
I didn't get a chance to see the Northern Lights but I have many moments are dear to me from this trip !  The Lights will have to wait for the next year  !

Wow...the airline..and the feeling !

My first time with WOW Air gave me what they promise...to make you smile..this is one of their goals and they really work for it.
They really got my attention while presenting the safety measures on board. This is the part where I don't always pay attention, though I know I should . This time I was not paying attention until I heard ..' You will see something like a yellow cupcake falling...referring actually to the oxygen masks.. ' so i realised this will be worth listening to. Soon enough I was right .. I hear ' if you are travelling with someone that needs assistance like a child or someone that acts like a child..then please put first the oxygen mask on yourself and then offer your help. '  How funny is that ? To me it was...
Now...besides the small jokes while doing the safety training...the whole atmosphere on board was really friendly and relaxed and the crew was all the time smiling and happy to listen and help. This doesn't happen too often and actually with the big legendary carriers you feel they are more doing you a favour already just for flying so no other wishes are allowed on board ... Isn't it ironic ? Sometimes you pay more to get less ?

And..one more thing I almost forgot about..the paper bag in case you get sick looks like this :

Same story different eyes..

It happens sometimes that the only thing we see..is only our view on how things are..and actually ' how things are ' is a matter of the one that 'sees ' them and of general acceptance of the same thing for the rest of the world... your truth is different than my truth...your story different than my story...
But now the question is..how do we know ? how do we know if we should ask for a different opinion ? how do we know when to just trust out own story..or when we should doubt it and ask for second opinion...
Where should we draw the line and clearly distinguish between lack of confidence and wisdom to ask for help ?

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

Kaas chante Piaf...Je ne regrette rien

I've been waiting for the concert tonight almost a year..and I can definitely say now it was worth it. I enjoyed every little bit of it .

Patricia Kaas is a great artist and I am glad I got this chance to go to one of her concerts. The music, lyrics, the scenes, her dresses..the energy and the atmosphere during the concert..they actually take you to Paris. Kaas makes you feel everything she feels and even maybe everything Piaf felt.. love,craziness,desperation,joy...all of this is just one show of Kaas.

If anyone has a chance..definitely go :)

Non, Rien de rien
Non, Je ne regrette rien
Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait
Ni le mal tout ca m'est bien egal
C'est pay, balay, oubli

Je me fous du pass

Social media...where to ?

I took part today in a talk about social media in the airline industry. Indeed social media is a powerful channel and I believe it is like this mainly due to its  speed. in an instant you can have someone complaining or congratulating an airline or a service.

But, no matter how much I admit the power it has today, I cannot stop thinking that this will be gone..or it will change drastically in the future... Nowadays so many people have for example Facebook accounts and so many share so many details about their lives, experiences and not only to close friends but to the entire community... Now, don't get me wrong..there is nothing wrong in sharing things with your friends, especially if you are away ...but are all the 10000 connections you have really friends ? I would say no, and there is no need now for all of them to know the same things..or better say soo many things.. Going further on this idea I think that soon there will be a fee for privacy..let's say you will pay to have less ' friends ' or smaller communities.. you will pay to separate your real ' friends ' from the others but in a way that of course will not affect the social status you have been working on by adding the 5 - 10000 ' Facebook friends ' .

One conviction I have is that life is cyclical...what is new now will be old tomorrow and what was there a long time ago will be new again and even more than that..will be considered innovative and original :) It's all a matter of time ...

Be the change you want to see

It's not me saying this , it's Mahatma Gandhi but I really believe in this saying...though it's not always easy to be just that..

Everything has a beginning right ? Well, the beginning of this blog is based on a promise I did to myself and to my wonderful coacher to ' let it all out ' , to just have a space where I can write my thoughts, my ideas, my concerns ...no right or wrong topics...just me, my reality and my imagination...

So this post is just that...the beginning of the change I want to see :)
